LEITHSVILLE ACT 537 PLAN UPDATE - SEWER STUDY

Fall 2011

A drilling study was made of the proposed gravity sewer route through Hellertown park lands, during the summer of 2010.

An engineering evaluation of the results of that study indicated that the proposed route was impractical, as a result of the underlying substrata, which was largely alluvial in nature over a wide area and too water-permeable to allow for economical construction, among other issues.

This analysis is consistent with and further reinforces the most recent independent studies of the Hellertown Marsh by

The Authority is now reviewing alternative routing which will will involve some pumping.
